Pomaria got its name from a plant nursery. William Summer started the Pomaria Nursery here in 1840, it grew into one of the biggest in the South, and the town took the name. Nearly two hundred years on, this is still the kind of place where people keep gardens and animals and come in the back door with something on their boots.
Most farmhouses and country places around Pomaria have a mudroom, a utility room, or at least a back entry with a tile or vinyl floor. Those floors are where we spend a lot of our time out here.
The back door
Red clay is the problem. It's fine-grained, it stains, and once it's ground into grout lines it turns them the same orange-brown as the driveway. Mopping just spreads it around. Then the dirty mop water runs into the grout, since grout lines are recessed, and every mopping makes the lines a shade darker.
We run a machine buffer over the floor for tile and grout cleaning. It works the packed clay up out of the grout lines, and then the slurry gets pulled away. Most people are surprised what color their grout started out. The coupon is $45 off.
What we won't promise: grout that's cracked or crumbling, or tile that's chipped, stays that way after cleaning. It'll be clean and cracked. A tile setter fixes that part.
The rest of the house
The carpet past the mudroom gets the overflow, mostly in a path toward the kitchen and the recliner. Our carpet cleaning starts with a walk-through, where the tech shows you what should come out and quotes the price. Clay stains get a pre-treatment before the main clean. Our cleaning solution is carbonated and soap-free, so there's no sticky leftover film to grab fresh dirt the next time someone walks through from the barn.
One more thing about spring. The pine pollen out here comes in yellow enough to coat a truck in a day, and it comes inside on shoes and dogs. If anybody in the house has allergies, a cleaning in late April or May, after the worst of it, makes a real difference.
We come up US-176 from Chapin. Town proper is small, a few streets like Holloway St just off the highway, but a lot of our Pomaria customers live well out in the county. Give us the road name and the closest church or crossroads.
